Jason Hicks opened Jones Wood Foundry to bring a piece of his hometown, Stratford-upon-Avon, to the Upper East Side, and the menu backs that up: beer-battered fish and chips with triple-cooked chips, Scotch eggs, and meat pies alongside a French bistro corner of onion soup and boeuf bourguignon. The taps run to cask ales and imported British beers rather than the usual gastropub lineup. A back patio, big enough for brunch or a Premier League match on the television, functions as the neighborhood's living room as much as its dining room. It's now in its second decade.
