Ryan's Daughter

A pub sat on this Upper East Side corner through Prohibition, and Ryan's Daughter took it over in 1979, splitting the space between a downstairs bar and an upstairs room kept for private events. It reads like a pub but feels more like a roomy dive, with a basketball arcade game and a jukebox alongside pool and a deep beer list. Live music rounds out the calendar, and the bar pours a proper pint of Guinness among its other offerings. It's popular enough to take reservations, unusual for a bar of its size.
