Behind an unmarked door next to the Mean Fiddler, a nightly password gets you down a graffiti-covered staircase past a recreation of a pre-Disney Times Square adult bookstore, then into what feels like an actual 1980s discotheque. The room is bigger than most speakeasies bother to be, done up in neon, with cocktails named for the decade's soundtrack: Purple Rain, La Bamba, Eye of the Tiger. The house shot arrives on a spinning vinyl record with lines of candy laid across the label, alongside a bar-food menu of sliders and chicken tenders.
