Trinity Place

A 1904 bank vault built for the New York Realty Bank sits beneath 115 Broadway, its two 35-ton doors and five-inch steel walls left exposed around a 40-foot mahogany bar. Andrew Carnegie declared it the world's strongest when it went up; the steel chamber came from the Mosler Safe Company upstate and reached Wall Street by barge and custom rail line. Trinity Place opened here in 2006, serving duck leg confit risotto, wagyu burgers and a beef and Guinness pie alongside seasonal cocktails. Its dining room occupies the bank's former executive boardroom, chandelier intact.
