Kenta Goto, a Tokyo native who trained behind the bar at Pegu Club, opened this 30-seat Eldridge Street spot in the summer of 2015. Amber lights and dark walls set off wood fixtures in a room built for close quarters, and the bar takes no reservations. Its signature Sakura Martini pairs gin with junmai sake and maraschino liqueur under a cherry blossom garnish. Chef Kiyo Shinoki's kitchen sends out okonomiyaki, tako sashimi, and miso chicken wings on cast-iron pans and in cedar boxes.
