On 1st Avenue in the East Village, d.b.a. opened in 1995 as one of the first city bars to take craft beer seriously, back when most neighbors were still pouring Miller and Coors. Sixteen rotating draft lines and an encyclopedic bottle list, including all seven Trappist breweries, back up a whiskey list deep enough for a rare pour to run into the double digits. The backyard patio draws as much of a crowd as what's on tap, big enough for day-drinking sessions and the big-group hangouts The Infatuation steers people toward. Dogs come along as often as people do, and the room leans toward loud happy hours over a quiet two-top.
