929 began in May 2023 as a Cantopop and Mandopop-themed cocktail bar hidden behind a curtain inside Gulp, a Taiwanese restaurant in Long Island City, with posters of Hong Kong singers like Faye Wong on the walls and cocktails named after the songs themselves. That location closed in June 2025, and the founders, Chen Haoran, Sean Yang and Jeff Liu, moved the concept into Hue House, a Midtown space near Grand Central built around several of their Asian restaurant and bar concepts. The Midtown room keeps the same music-driven cocktail list going. Reservations go through the site.
