Jamie Erickson named this Degraw Street cafe after her grandfather, who worked the counter at the East Village's B&H Dairy. She opened it in 2013 after building a catering business in Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens, drawing on time spent at a farm-to-table restaurant in Boulder and running catering at City Bakery. The counter turns out coffee, pastries and sandwiches on a menu that shifts through the seasons, alongside a small selection of grocery items to take home. In 2024 the James Beard Foundation named Erickson a fellow in its Women's Entrepreneurial Leadership program, and she has since opened a second Brooklyn location.
