Toby Cecchini, credited with inventing the Cosmopolitan, reopened this Cobble Hill diner in 2013 after it sat dark for six years following its original owners' retirement. The restoration included sending the corner's vintage neon sign, glowing over Atlantic Avenue and Henry Street since the early 1950s, out to a specialist shop for a full rebuild of its broken tubes. Leather booths and string lights keep the old diner look intact, while the drinks list runs longer than the food menu, heavy on textbook Negronis and martinis. A double-patty burger with a flag toothpick and a plate of fried cheese curds with French onion dip round out the kitchen's short list.
