The San Francisco Saloon, a Pico sports bar that ran Giants games from the early 1970s, closed and came back as a fern bar: plants, a 40-foot counter, and the 1980s idea that a room should push strangers into conversation. The owners found a 1978 pen-and-ink drawing of cocktail-hour drinkers inside the old place and built the look around it. DJs and themed nights carry the weekends, and Sunday brunch runs 11 to 3 with no reservations taken.
