Opened in 1938, Silverlake Lounge settled into its current form around 1975 and has outlasted every other venue from the neighborhood's early-2000s music scene, including Spaceland, which closed in 2020. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club played a three-night stand here just before signing a record deal, and Silversun Pickups took their name from a liquor store down the block; Elliott Smith, Tame Impala, Local Natives and Cold War Kids all played the room on their way up. Drag and burlesque shows, part of the bar's original identity, still run alongside the live bands and DJ nights that fill the calendar most nights of the week.
