Paved pullouts along Mulholland Drive date to 1924, when the road was laid out purely for the view along the Santa Monica Mountains ridge. From here the San Fernando Valley spreads out on one side and the Los Angeles skyline appears on the other, with the Hollywood Sign visible on a clear day. Parking is free, and a few of the overlooks connect to canyon trailheads for anyone who wants to keep walking after the view.
