Micheltorena Stairs

Poured in 1925 to let Red Car passengers reach the hillside above Sunset Boulevard, this Silver Lake stairway carries 177 steps between Sunset and Micheltorena Street. Three local artists painted the lower forty steps into a rainbow-hearted mural in 2015, nicknamed Stair Candy. The city didn't officially recognize it as public art until 2019. Near Sunset Junction, it doubles as a quick workout and a photo stop, with the painted section giving way to plain concrete higher up.
