Manhattan Beach Pier

The 928-foot concrete pier was engineered with a rounded end to withstand the surf and completed in 1920, and it remains the oldest standing concrete pier on the West Coast. An octagonal building from 1922 at the pier's tip now houses the Roundhouse Aquarium, with touch tanks holding sea stars and urchins alongside sharks, octopus and moray eels drawn from Santa Monica Bay. A 2018 renovation rebuilt the aquarium's interior before it reopened.
