Street-paving rock was the point of the quarry the Union Rock Company ran here from 1903 until the late 1920s, leaving behind Bronson Canyon's cave, a fifty-foot tunnel through a hundred-foot rock wall with three passages out the far side, one wide enough for a car. It played the entrance to the Batcave in the 1960s Batman TV series and has shown up in dozens of other films, including Army of Darkness and The Searchers. An out-and-back walk from the Brush Canyon trailhead covers under a mile round trip with about fifty feet of elevation gain, and the far side of the cave opens onto a view of the Hollywood Sign.
