1642 Beer and Wine

A rehabbed watering hole in Historic Filipinotown keeps its dimly lit forties architecture, exposed brick and polished concrete behind minimal signage out front. The bar pours a selective run of California craft beer alongside a beer-and-wine-only list, no liquor. Wednesday nights have carried a jazz residency of rotating local musicians, and the room fills with a crowd more likely to be reading than posting. It stays open past midnight most nights of the week.
