Tucked beside Hotel Carmel on Second Street with no sign marking the door, this small, dimly lit bar draws mostly locals through the week and a dressier crowd on weekends. A white bar top and Art Deco touches fill the narrow room. The kitchen sends out bacon-wrapped dates stuffed with blue cheese and substantial burgers topped with caramelized onions, while the bar builds a well-made Sazerac and a house Elixir of gin, green chartreuse, agave and lemon. A short, mostly European wine list and a handful of beers round things out.
