Hennessey's Tavern

Paul Hennessey left a career trading stocks on Wall Street to open this pub across from the Hermosa Pier in 1976, and it grew into a chain of eleven Hennessey's up and down the West Coast, with this one still the flagship. A second bar, a dining room and a rooftop deck have been added on over the years, giving it three separate levels to drink on. The kitchen leans Irish, with dishes like the Southern Irish Tenders and a Red Irish Chicken Sandwich, and the bar fills up for St. Patrick's Day.
