Named for Early America's public houses, where travelers and neighbors gathered around a shared table, this modern tavern sits on the Promenade downtown. Scallion and cheddar popovers arrive with honey truffle butter, and the chicken pot pie bites use vegetable and chicken dumplings under a flaky crust; regulars build a meal out of those and the short rib French dip rather than the entrees. There's live music most nights, an extensive beer list, and walk-ins are welcome at the bar any time it's open.
