Tiki Ti

Ray Buhen, a Filipino immigrant who tended bar at the original Don the Beachcomber, opened this twelve-seat room in a former violin repair shop on Sunset Boulevard in 1961. Fishing floats, puffer fish, and tikis cover the walls, along with placards signed by decades of regulars. The menu runs past ninety drinks, built on syrups Buhen mixed himself. His son and grandsons, Mike Sr., Mike Jr., and Mark, still run it, and on Wednesdays at 8:30pm Mike Sr. rings a bell and leads the room in a toast.
