A jazz and R&B band plays nightly on the small stage of this 5,000-square-foot room on the Slauson corridor, where mahogany paneling and velvet booths surround a grand piano. The name comes from the Hotel Somerville, the Central Avenue landmark that later became the Dunbar. Issa Rae is a partner alongside Yonnie Hagos and Ajay Relan of Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen, and chef Geter Atienza cooks American comfort food: collard green lasagna, fried chicken sliders topped with caviar, duck confit. Sunday trades dinner for a jazz brunch.
