The Lucky Tiki

Above Tail o' the Pup's hot dog stand on Santa Monica Boulevard, in a room that once served as the Doors' recording studio, the 1933 Group revived a tiki bar that lasted only eighteen months in the San Fernando Valley before a demolition closed it in the mid-2000s. Guests buzz an intercom hidden inside a pickle barrel to get in. More than eighty percent of the original decor made the move, including hand-carved stools, Japanese glass fishing floats, and a shelf of Polynesian records; the cocktail menu comes from 1933's beverage director David Ray, the food from Tail o' the Pup's Jacob Cusano.
