The Baked Potato

Don Randi, a keyboardist who had played with Nancy Sinatra and the Beach Boys, opened The Baked Potato in Studio City in 1970 as a room for off-night gigs; it has run continuously since under dim red lighting, in a single room small enough to put the crowd almost on stage with the band. The kitchen serves loaded baked potatoes, including a Philly cheesesteak version among two dozen variations, while touring and local jazz acts work the stand nightly. Los Angeles magazine named it the city's best jazz club in 2010.
