Far Bar

The historic Far East Building in Little Tokyo held the Far East Cafe, a community gathering spot from the 1930s, until a 1994 earthquake forced its closure; a 2002 restoration reopened it as the Chop Suey Cafe and Lounge before it became Far Bar. A narrow alleyway between two buildings leads to a brick patio strung with lanterns and lights, and the bar pours some 40 taps heavy on Japanese craft beer alongside a menu of wasabi fries and half-pound burgers. LA Weekly named it the top bar in Downtown LA in 2013.
