République Café Bakery & République Restaurant

Charlie Chaplin built the La Brea Avenue building that now houses République as office space in the 1920s; Campanile ran there for twenty-five years before chefs Walter and Margarita Manzke opened their own restaurant inside it. The room mixes communal tables with a counter, where the cafe side operates daily from 8am to 2pm, while a separate dining room serves a French-inspired dinner menu by reservation only. Margarita Manzke's pastry program there won her a James Beard Award for Outstanding Pastry Chef in 2023.
