At Platform, on Washington Boulevard at Landmark Street, this Culver City bakery doubles as a sit-down restaurant with a patio ringed by olive trees. Gianni and Nicola Vietina of Madeo in Beverly Hills named it for their grandmother and run it with pastry chef Federico Fernandez, who came from the Four Seasons. The counter has focaccia, almond croissants, alfajores and olive oil cake by the slice. At the tables the cooking mixes Italian, French and Argentine: empanadas, Penne Madeo, skirt steak with chimichurri. Laptops are asked to stay shut at lunch and dinner.
