Frolic Room

Photos of Golden-Age celebrities cover the walls at this bar next to the Pantages Theatre, including an Al Hirschfeld mural painted in 1963 that caricatures Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable and the Marx Brothers, among others. Howard Hughes owned the building through the early 1950s and added the neon sign still out front. It was one of the last places Elizabeth Short, the Black Dahlia, was seen before her 1947 murder, and regulars over the decades have included Frank Sinatra and Charles Bukowski.
