Escala K-town in Koreatown

This Colombian-Korean gastropub is part of Chapman Plaza, the 1929 Spanish Revival market on 6th Street that was built so shoppers could drive into its courtyard. Owner Kyu Min Lee, known as OG Chino, was born in Seoul and raised in Bogotá, and his kitchen mixes Colombian and Korean cooking with American comfort food: empanadas filled with kimchi fried rice, bandeja paisa with Korean short rib, whole fried fish with coconut rice and mango slaw. Diners sit on church pews while a DJ plays hip-hop on Wednesdays and weekends. Book ahead for weekend brunch, which runs on bottomless mimosas.
