The Sultan Room

Varun Kataria and Tyler Erickson, childhood friends who grew up going to Minneapolis jazz clubs, opened this two-floor room above Turk's Inn in June 2019, building a sunken gold dance floor and lining the walls with decals inspired by mosque architecture. Concerts and DJ sets run through the week, leaning toward global sounds rather than one genre. A late-night doner kebab counter, modeled on the doner spots regulars hit after a night in Berlin's Kreuzberg clubs, feeds people on the way out, and dinner beforehand can be booked through the attached restaurant.
