Windward Avenue in Venice is home to Belles Beach House, which takes its name and island aesthetic from artist Larry Bell and the retro tiki bars of the 1970s, pairing that with Hawaiian izakaya-style dishes and a Japanese accent. The space runs to a DJ booth, brightly colored cocktails and an oversized tiki statue, with crispy rock shrimp and char siu ribs among the more talked-about dishes. Reservations are hard to come by on short notice, and the restaurant also books out private and semi-private spaces for groups.
