Fifteen floors above Broadway, the rooftop at the Downtown LA Proper Hotel holds Cara Cara, designed by Kelly Wearstler and built out with fire pits and skyline views on both sides. Chef Suzanne Goin's kitchen keeps the menu seasonal and mostly small: ceviche, grilled seafood, tacos, a seed-oil-free burger. A porcini-rubbed steak and grilled branzino cover the heavier end for anyone after a full dinner. The space fills fast on weekends and around sunset, so a reservation through OpenTable is worth making ahead of a walk-in.
