The Golden Bull

What had been Eddie's Restaurant on West Channel Road became the Golden Bull in 1949, when owner Don Cranford turned it into a chophouse that grew into a fixture for Santa Monica Canyon's gay community through the '60s and '70s. Dark leather booths, dark red walls and a fireplace fill the dining room, with a large bull painted on the wall opposite the bar. Caesar salad, French onion soup and prime rib still run through the chophouse menu, alongside steaks and chops.
