Raspoutine

The building at 8623 Melrose Avenue held Los Angeles' first liquor license, issued in 1919, before it became a speakeasy. Raspoutine opened here in October 2018, an offshoot of the Paris nightclub that started in 1965 as a Russian cabaret frequented by Serge Gainsbourg and Marlene Dietrich. Red velvet booths, stained glass and antique chandeliers surround a dance floor built for deep house and electro, with rotating DJs on stage Thursday through Saturday nights. A dress code applies, carried over from the Paris original.
