
Four routes lead up to a fenced overlook on Mount Lee, directly behind the Hollywood sign -- hikers can't actually reach the letters themselves, since a chain-link fence and cameras block that approach from every trail. Brush Canyon Trail, the longest and most popular at 6.4 miles round trip, passes near the Bronson Caves used as the Batcave in the 1960s Batman series before climbing to the summit. Shorter options off Innsdale Drive and Mulholland Highway cover under five miles with less elevation gain. All four converge on the same view: the sign's back and the LA basin stretched out below.
