Between Riverside Drive and the L.A. River, a small stable in southern Burbank teaches horseback riding to adults only, one rider at a time. Instructor Davee Hallinan has worked with horses for decades and built a reputation for coaching riders who are nervous around them, covering everything from bareback basics to dressage and jumping. Everything runs by appointment -- there's no walk-in option -- and the setting itself, weathered stalls and a view of the surrounding hills, feels more like a working ranch than a lesson barn a few miles from the freeway.
