Pine Wind Japanese Garden

Landscape architect Takeo Uesugi designed this garden, called Shofuen in Japanese, and the city dedicated it alongside the Cultural Arts Center in 1991. Two waterfalls feed a koi pond, and stone paths wind past traditional plantings to a small amphitheater that seats 25 on its own, or 60 once folding chairs go in. Wedding ceremonies book the space regularly, and the water and stone backdrop draws photographers shooting portraits. A call to the city's cultural arts office reserves time there.
