Koi some sixty years old circle a pond in the open-air courtyard at the center of a hilltop mansion the Bernheimer brothers built in 1914, 250 feet above Hollywood Boulevard, to hold their collection of Asian art. Glass walls on the front corners put the skyline in view, from Griffith Observatory out to the ocean. A 600-year-old pagoda carried over from Japan stands above the pool, with the Pagoda Bar on the terrace beside it.
