Childhood friends Marcus Johnson and Abdoulaye Balde cook West African food at the corner of Centinela and La Brea: honey berbere chicken bites, Senegalese smoked lamb shoulder, za'atar zucchini, jollof rice from Johnson's mother's recipe. The two ran pop-ups through the pandemic before taking this room in 2022, then traded the picnic benches for banquettes and table lamps in 2024. Aretha and George Clinton posters cover the walls, the bar pours a sobolo spritz, and the calendar holds listening nights and live shows.
