Hinano Cafe

Sailor Joe Larson opened Hinano Cafe near the Venice boardwalk in 1962, using a beer-import deal he struck while working as an extra on Mutiny on the Bounty to bring the first Hinano lager into the country. The dive has kept its sawdust floors and pool tables since, and drew regulars including Jim Morrison and Dennis Wilson; Baywatch and Dexter have filmed inside. It serves beer and wine only alongside a cheeseburger built with heavily charred patties on a sesame bun, and local bands play Friday through Sunday evenings.
