Masahiko Sugino opened a roller-skating rink with arcade games in Japan on December 25, 1980, and grew the format over the decades into Round One, now more than a hundred locations there, pairing bowling with arcade games, karaoke rooms and billiards under one roof. The company's first attempt at the US market closed in 2006, but a relaunch found its footing at Puente Hills Mall in 2010 and has kept expanding by roughly ten US locations a year since. The Burbank Town Center location runs the same format: bowling lanes, claw machines, rhythm games imported from Japan, karaoke rooms and a kitchen serving Japanese food alongside the arcade floor.
