A 1927 Italian Renaissance Revival apartment house on the Sunset Strip, now the Piazza del Sol office building, holds this robata and sushi restaurant, with an elevated terrace looking over the Strip. Skewers cook over binchotan charcoal from Wakayama: chicken meatballs, quail eggs, lamb chops, miso-marinated black cod. The sushi and robata bars were built from a fallen 400-year-old redwood. Wagyu seared on a hot rock and a tuna jalapeño roll are on the menu too, with a big sake list. Expect a DJ, and a dress code that turns away athletic wear and flip-flops.
