Chef Alan Sanz, who trained in Oaxaca, Michoacan and Argentina before returning to his native Mexico City, runs the kitchen at this multi-level Los Feliz restaurant built around a forty-foot tree in an open-air dining room. A mezzanine level above adds wicker furniture and fringed lighting, and the layout is dense enough that finding the bathroom takes a minute the first time. Max Reis runs the bar separately, with a list that's been named among North America's 50 Best; reservations run through Resy for dinner nightly and weekend brunch.
